Ciudad de México, a 12 de abril de 2018. Organismos internacionales, academia, organizaciones de la sociedad civil, iniciativa privada y autoridades celebraron el lanzamiento de Agua Capital, plataforma innovadora de colaboración colectiva que busca alcanzar la seguridad hídrica del Valle de México.
Agua Capital es una plataforma independiente, plural y apartidista que busca articular la experiencia, conocimiento, habilidades, y compromisos de los distintos sectores para definir e implementar soluciones basadas en la naturaleza a partir del conocimiento científico contribuyendo así, a la seguridad hídrica del Valle de México.
Agua Capital cuenta con la colaboración y respaldo de sus organizaciones integrantes, entre ellas Mexichem, Citibanamex, Coca Cola FEMSA, Grupo Modelo y HSBC, entre otras.
Esta iniciativa forma parte de un total de 24 Fondos de Agua creados y fortalecidos por la Alianza Latinoamericana de Fondos de Agua, una colaboración entre el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID), Fundación FEMSA, el Fondo para el Medio Ambiente Mundial (FMAM) y The Nature Conservancy (TNC). Ríos, arroyos, humedales y bosques aportan servicios ecosistémicos fundamentales, tales como regular el flujo de agua, reducir los niveles de erosión del suelo, controlar inundaciones y contribuir a la biodiversidad. Su conservación, protección y restauración resultan esenciales para garantizar la seguridad hídrica de nuestras zonas urbanas.
